Don't be caught out

As you will be aware the Health & Safety in Employment Act 1992, as amended in 2002, states that power operated Elevating Work Platforms (EWP’s) must have a major examination at 10 years and then at 5 year intervals after that. Used imported EWP’s must have the examination before being used in New Zealand.

These examinations are extremely comprehensive and require disassembly and as required removal of paint, grease and corrosion from critical components to allow a complete and thorough inspection. The detailed visual inspection and tolerance checking of all wear components and non-destructive testing of all critical areas for evidence of cracking, fatigue or excessive stress.

Concerned about the true cost?

These important examinations are the backbone of your safety standards. However for many firms they can turn into a logistical nightmare.

The unplanned extra dollars spent rectifying poorly executed work, increased hire costs and down time when schedules are exceeded or ignored completely.

Contractual problems involved with machine down time. Co-ordinating collection and delivery, staff resources stretched?
